While hogs do consume a lot of feed, many people don’t realize that hogs love pasture—every
bit of it. Not only do they eat the grass, they dig up the roots and even eat some of the soil to obtain minerals.
Since they are so hard on the land, we keep our numbers relatively low and give the land a year’s rest before allowing
them back on. Hogs also love the woods and we section off their pastures to include some forest.
Weathertop pork is
sold by the whole or half. When a whole or half hog is ordered you get to decide how you want it cut up,
then when it goes to the butcher they custom cut to your specification, vacuum pack and freeze your pork. Available
twice a year, in spring and fall, an average half a hog yields about 75 lbs, which
fills a banana box full. If you have the freezer space, it is well worth it.
